The giant golden-crowned flying fox (Acerodon jubatus), also known as the golden-capped fruit bat, is a rare megabat and one of the largest bats in the world. The species is endangered and is currently facing the possibility of extinction because of poaching and forest destruction. It is endemic to forests in the Philippines.

Unfortunately, I live in PA now and I can’t vote on Amendment One. But that doesn’t mean I can’t do my best to tell everyone who CAN vote what it’s really about! :)
Vote Against: Because gay marriage is already illegal in NC.
Vote Against: Because it sucks to be treated like you’re gay when you aren’t.
Vote Against: Because keeping things the way they are is better than making them a lot worse.
Vote Against: Because you don’t want to unintentionally marginalize people that you don’t find immoral.Vote Against: Because it sucks to be treated like a second class citizen when you’re a white, middle-class heterosexual.

The truth about amendment one is that it will not only affect the futures of gay men and women in North Carolina but it will drastically change the level of legal recognition and protection for: ALL unmarried NC couples gay or straight, ALL children of unmarried couples, ALL unmarried parents who have a custody settlement regarding their children, ALL victims of domestic violence, ALL widows and their rights to benefits after the death of their partner.
Chances are you know and care for at least one person in each of these categories. Voting for amendment one will put these peoples’ rights on the chopping block. Whether you believe homosexuality is wrong or not, you’re not only voting to affect homosexuals. Your vote will affect each of the above mentioned groups in a drastic way.
Please consider the consequences of voting for amendment one and exercise your right to vote today.
